Welcome to Black Diamond Restaurant

Dedicated to our forefathers, The Black Diamond was a local coal mine located on the corner of Hwy 7 and Hwy 287 in Lafayette. The coal mines brought settlers from many countries of the world seeking work. There were some 50-100 coal mines operating in a 20 square mile area at any given time during the 19th century to the mid-20th century. The area is still rich in coal but horizontal mining at great depths was not only dangerous, but became uneconomical to continue operation. There are still visible coal tailings in the area reminding us of our ancestry. The Black Diamond Restaurant and Tap House relives the mining era, touching not only history but the great food made for the workers by the miners wives, hand touched to form some of the most delicious food around! Please come visit and see for yourself. Make it a Black Diamond Day!
